Biodiversity
The Biodiversity Working Group of Generation Climate Europe empowers young people to engage with EU and global biodiversity policies. With teams focusing on nature restoration, biodiversity & climate, and nature-based solutions. Through campaigns, strategic partnerships and utilising social media, the Biodiversity Working Group connects European youth with key political developments impacting European biodiversity like the Nature Restoration Law and the EU biodiversity strategy. Through our research we develop toolkits, factsheets, and synthesise important policy documents to keep young people informed and equipped with the right knowledge to be strong biodiversity advocates. The Biodiversity Working Group through its work highlights how ecosystem restoration and climate action can be tackled in tandem, while ensuring youth perspectives are included in local and EU-level policies.
Nature Restoration Team
The Nature Restoration Team envisions youth to be at the center of efforts to rebuild Europe’s ecosystems. After successfully campaigning for the EU Nature Restoration Regulation, the team now focuses on its implementation by ensuring that young people have a seat at the table when Member States draft their National Restoration Plans. Through engaging reports, toolkits, and public outreach, the team empowers youth to effectively engage in national policy processes, tackles misinformation, and highlights the importance of restoring nature as a pathway to biodiversity recovery, social justice, and climate resilience.
Nature-Based Solutions Team
The Nature-Based Solutions Team promotes smart, inclusive solutions that work with nature to address environmental and social challenges — from urban heat to ecosystem decline. Recognising that youth are often left out of local planning and policy design, the team builds platforms and tools that increase awareness and representation. From publishing youth-friendly materials and podcasts to engaging with international partners, local governments and EU institutions, the team ensures that young people can shape and benefit from greener cities, climate resilience, and a just transition grounded in nature.

Biodiversity & Climate Team
The Biodiversity & Climate Team works at the intersection of two major crises: biodiversity loss and climate change. Too often addressed separately, these challenges are deeply interconnected. The team raises awareness and builds youth capacity to engage with new scientific insights and push for more holistic, systemic EU policies. With our showcasing of unique aspects of European biodiversity through our communication channels, we further build excitement for biodiversity policy. By translating science into accessible content, the team helps young people become informed advocates for a future where nature and climate solutions go hand in hand.
Biodiversity is our greatest asset, yet its protection requires more than just science—it requires political will. Empowering youth to engage with biodiversity policy ensures that the urgency of the ecological crisis meets the ambition of those who will live through its consequences. We aren't just asking for a seat at the table; we are bringing the expertise needed to redesign it, embodying what it means to be an expert by training and an advocate by necessity.
