Generation Climate Europe (GCE) is the largest coalition of youth-led networks on climate and environmental issues at the European level. GCE unites the largest youth-led networks, bringing together 381 national organisations across 46 countries in Europe. We are guided by the voices of over 20 million young Europeans. GCE creates a platform for the youth to advocate for a just and green transition in Europe.

About the role

New Economy is a cross-cutting, overarching program at Generation Climate Europe, aiming to strengthen the meaningful inclusion of young people in debates on economic system transformation to address the climate and social crisis. The team leads and contributes to projects across research, capacity building, and advocacy. This includes developing reports, organising internal and external workshops and webinars with young people and other experts, and engaging with EU policy processes to bring in new economy perspectives. In addition, the team collaborates with organisations in the broader new economy space and supports other GCE working groups in integrating new economy into their work.

As one of two New Economy Coordinators, you manage the three teams in the New Economy program (Research, Capacity Building, and Advocacy), oversee the delivery of projects, and give strategic direction and ensure coherence across activities..

Please note that this is a volunteer position.

Tasks

• Managing a team of around 15 volunteers, involving organising team meetings, ensuring a good volunteering experience for team members, and recruiting new volunteers
• Participate in regular GCE-wide meetings with other coordinators and leads
• Give strategic direction to GCE’s new economy work aligned with GCE objectives, current developments, and the team’s capacities
• Support the project leads in rolling out their planned projects and activities
• Collaborating with and reporting back to the Board
• Ensure a good volunteering experience for all team members
• Collaborate with other Working Group coordinators to embed new economy into their projects

About You

• You are passionate about transforming our current economic system together with young people and other youth organisations
• You are motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
• You have good time management and organisational skills.
• You have great people skills and you are a team player.
• You have some basic knowledge on new economy concepts and policy options
• You have some basic knowledge on EU institutions/EU policy.
• You can work remotely (around 5 – 6 hours a week – flexible)and have reliable internet and computer access.
• It is preferable that you are based within a timezone that is -2 or +2 from CET/CEST as it is our main working territory.

Bonus Points

• You have previous research/advocacy/capacity building experience in new economy
• You have previous experience leading a team
