In this reaction piece, we outline the main characteristics of the Sustainable Products Initiative, by focusing on the new Ecodesign Regulation – its scope and the new concepts it introduces in terms of ecodesign requirements.
Taking these characteristics into account, we provide for some key demands which could potentially improve the SPI – and the Regulation. We argue for a wider participation of youth in the context of the initiative -from the drafting of legislative instruments to their approval and implementation – clear policy implementation and dissemination, and the prioritisation for delegated acts of products of the ICTs sector.
