Volunteer as: Project Lead on New Economy Advocacy & Outreach

Generation Climate Europe (GCE) is the largest coalition of youth-led networks on climate and environmental issues at the European level. GCE unites the largest youth-led networks, bringing together 381 national organisations across 46 countries in Europe. We are guided by the voices of over 20 million young Europeans. GCE creates a platform for the youth to advocate for a just and green transition in Europe.

About the role

New Economy is a cross-cutting, overarching program at Generation Climate Europe which aims to support the inclusion of young people within beyond growth debates about economic transformation, sustainable resource use, and intergenerational justice. The Advocacy & Outreach team will identify opportunities to engage youth across Europe in re-shaping our current economic system. Specifically, they will work closely with the Research team to map youth organisations and young individuals active on beyond growth issues identifying best practices for youth engagement . Additionally, they will be responsible for developing and executing advocacy strategies, coordinating outreach activities and representing GCE’s New Economy in various forums. The Project Lead will lead the team and all the activities and deliverables involved, as well as manage communication with other teams at GCE and outside.

Please note that this is a volunteer position.

Tasks

  • Collaborate closely with the New Economy coordinators for the preparation and organisation of the team’s activities.
  • Follow EU policy development on New Economy and write regular updates
  • Map youth organisations and young individuals active on beyond growth issues identifying best practices for youth engagement.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partner organisations, youth networks, and other stakeholders to strengthen the impact of advocacy efforts.
  • Collaborate with other teams within the New Economy Programme
  • Collaborate with the New Economy Communications Officer to communicate any activities on GCE social media channels.
  • Organise and moderate biweekly meetings with the Advocacy & Outreach Team
  • Attend regular program-wide calls with the coordinators and other teams in the New Economy program.

About You

  • Available to work remotely for around 4-6 hours a week (flexible).
  • Experience in coordinating people and organisations.
  • Confident with the Google Suite and/or Office Suite.
  • You are motivated, organised and reliable.
  • You are curious and proactive.
  • Basic knowledge of EU policy and decision-making processes.
  • Basic knowledge of alternative economic models and post-growth theories.
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • It is preferable that you are based within a timezone that is -2 or +2 from CET/CEST as it is our main working territory.

Deliverables will be discussed and finalised with the project lead depending on their interests and team capacity.

Bonus Points

  • Academic or practical experience with EU economic policy and alternative economic models.
  • Experience leading advocacy initiatives.
