About the Role

The Operations Assistant will work closely with the Head of Operations, gaining hands-on experience in the daily management of our organisation. This volunteer position is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to grow in the field of finance and operations within an NGO registered in Belgium. You’ll actively organise and chair meetings, coordinate teams, and manage tasks, all while receiving comprehensive training.

Ideal for someone passionate about the administrative side of non-profit work, this position provides significant growth potential within GCE and valuable experience for your career. No prior experience is needed, just a desire to learn and contribute to our mission.

Please note that this is a volunteer position.

Tasks

  • Support the Head of Operations in daily tasks and long-term projects.
  • Assist in the organisation and coordination of teams and their tasks.
  • Help maintain accurate records and documentation related to operational activities.
  • Support the implementation of operational policies and procedures.
  • Provide general administrative support as needed.
  • Organise and schedule meetings, ensuring all necessary materials and preparations are in place.
  • Support the Financial Lead to comply with our daily financial needs and requirements.

About You

  • You have a keen interest in learning about finance and operations within an NGO.
  • You are precise, organised, and detail-oriented.
  • You are motivated and eager to support the operational functions of a dynamic organisation.
  • You are reliable and capable of working independently with minimal supervision once activities have been explained and training has been provided.
  • You can work remotely and have reliable internet and computer access.
  • You are connected to the European context: as we focus on EU advocacy, we welcome applicants with an interest and general understanding of how the EU operates and/or a European background that facilitates this knowledge. It is preferable that you are based within a timezone that is -2 or +2 from CET/CEST as it is our main working territory.

Bonus Points

  • You have experience volunteering or working in an NGO context.
  • You have some knowledge of Belgian administration.
  • The main language is English, but a good knowledge of French and/or Dutch is required for some administrative tasks.
