About Us
Generation Climate Europe (GCE) is the largest coalition of youth-led networks on climate and environmental issues at the European level. GCE unites the largest youth-led networks, bringing together 381 national organisations across 46 countries in Europe. We are guided by the voices of over 20 million young Europeans. GCE creates a platform for the youth to advocate for a just and green transition in Europe. GCE envisions a system that respects human rights and the planet, that includes the voice of youth and acknowledges our common, but differentiated responsibility in achieving a carbon-neutral and sustainable world.
About the Role
We are looking for two new coordinators who are excited and ready to lead the work of our team and oversee the delivery of our projects in the Education and Skills working group.
Education is at the heart of societal change – and undeniably our education systems are not fit to teach young people about the interconnectedness of crises, empower them to discover their political agency and provide them with the skills to tackle the climate crisis. With the European Year of Skills (2023), GCE has put increased emphasis on the need to involve young people in discussions on the intersection of education, skills and climate.
In this role you will coordinate the Education and Skills Working Group and oversee the work on two exciting new projects:
- Sustainable Organisations for which you collaborate with our Member Organisations, particularly those focused on education and skills (e.g. European Student Union, Erasmus Student Network, OBESSU)
- Education for Sustainable Development, for which you will monitor and facilitate youth engagement in the implementation in Member States of last year’s Council Recommendation on “Learning for the Green Transition and Sustainable Development” and continue to advocate for a transformative change of education systems in Europe among decision-makers.
Please note that this is a volunteer position.
Tasks
- Support the Project Lead and Project Officer in developing and implementing the two education and skills-related projects and initiatives.
- Ensure the timely conclusion of deliverables
- Plan and moderate the working group meetings (around 1 weekly meeting).
- Ensure a good volunteering experience and team spirit for the team’s members.
- Develop relationships with Member Organisations and other partners to advance the education and skills agenda.
- Attend Coordinators Call to update and coordinate with other GCE working groups as well as the operations team and GCE board.
