Volunteer as: Coordinator of the Advocacy Team

About Us

Generation Climate Europe (GCE) is the largest coalition of youth-led networks on climate and environmental issues at the European level. GCE unites the largest youth-led networks bringing together 381 national organizations across 46 countries in Europe. We are guided by the voices of over 20 million young Europeans. GCE creates a platform for the youth to advocate for a just and green transition in Europe. GCE envisions a system that respects human rights and the planet, that includes the voice of youth and acknowledges our common, but differentiated responsibility in achieving a carbon-neutral and sustainable world.

About the Role

The Advocacy Team interacts with the EU institutions (European Parliament, European Commission, Council of the EU, and the EESC) with the aim to influence EU policy-making on climate and environmental issues. The Advocacy Team monitors the work of the EU institutions, establishes contacts with members of the European Parliament, assists the working groups with achieving their objectives through strategic advocacy, and organises Youth Climate Dialogues with each of the EU institutions.

Please note that this is a volunteer position.

Tasks:

  • Managing a team of 15 volunteers, which involves organising team meetings, ensuring a good volunteering experience for the team’s members, and recruiting new volunteers.
  • Giving strategic direction to GCE’s advocacy work, aligned with GCE’s objectives, current political developments, and the team’s capacities.
  • Organising and structuring the work of the team.
  • Overseeing and supporting the Liaison Leads’ work towards the Parliament, Commission and Council.
  • Collaborating with and reporting back to the Board, the Member Organisations, and Working Group Coordinators.
  • Representing GCE in meetings with high-level policy makers.
  • Overseeing communication activities and events, such as the Youth Climate Dialogues.
  • Occasionally moderating panel discussions at events.

  • You can work remotely and have reliable internet and computer access.
  • It is preferable that you are based within a timezone that is -2 or +2 from CET/CEST, as it is our main working territory.
