Community Engagement Coordinator

About Us

Generation Climate Europe (GCE) is the largest coalition of youth-led networks on climate and environmental issues at the European level. GCE unites the largest youth-led networks bringing together 381 national organisations across 46 countries in Europe. We are guided by the voices of over 20 million young Europeans. GCE creates a platform for the youth to advocate for a just and green transition in Europe. GCE envisions a system that respects human rights and the planet, that includes the voice of youth and acknowledges our common, but differentiated responsibility in achieving a carbon-neutral and sustainable world.

About the Role

Since its foundation in 2019, GCE has grown to over 200 volunteers from various countries around Europe operating on a remote basis. Though operating on a remote basis brings a lot of flexibility, it also comes with its own challenges, particularly around connecting our team and facilitating personal connections. We see GCE not just as an organisation with a purpose, but as a community of youth advocates pushing for stronger action on the climate crisis. Therefore, we believe it is really important for GCE to be a platform for young people to connect and support each other on this journey. The role of the Community Engagement Coordinator is to strengthen the sense of community at GCE and grow GCE’s internal networking capacity, while supporting the development of our Alumni Network.

Tasks

  • Support the current Community Engagement Coordinator to:
    • Organise various online events, such as games, quizzes and debate nights.
    • Strengthen the GCE Local Hubs to connect more people in key cities where our volunteers are present.
    • Provide teams and working groups with icebreakers and other community-building activities.
  • Primarily coordinate the Alumni Leads to develop the GCE Alumni Network:
    • Follow the development of the strategy;
    • Coordinate with other members of the Events and Communications Teams;
    • Ensure the launch and maintenance of the community.
  • Collaborate with the Training and Development Lead on the pool of experts on key climate and environmental issues.
