Funding Fairer Futures

Funding Fairer Futures: calls for proposals open now!

Funding Fairer Futures is a new initiative dedicated to strengthening the climate movement and supporting its transformation to become truly inclusive by ensuring that the needs and perspectives of diverse stakeholders, including often marginalised communities, are heard and reflected in climate action. We’ve built a coalition with Climate Action Network, WECF, Christian Blind Mission Ireland and ECOLISE to empower more organisations and individuals to build community power, organise and hold power holders to account through providing financial support and training.

As part of the project, we are launching the Youth Climate Changemakers Fund – the biggest fund and organisational development space in Europe so far for youth organisations and informal groups to work on inclusive climate justice. We are especially focusing on engaging the actors from outside the obvious spaces as well as building bridges between climate justice and other priority issues  for youth.

Opportunities

As part of the Youth Climate Changemakers Fund, registered organisations can apply for grants of between €1,000 and €100,000 to carry out projects that will contribute to strengthening the climate movement.

To find out what kind of activities we’re looking to support and to find out whether your organisation is eligible to apply, check out the Call for Proposals for Youth organisations.

Our partner organisations are launching similar opportunities at the same time the Youth Climate Changemakers Fund. If you don’t think you’re quite right for the this call then make sure to take a look at the:

Key focus

We have the funding to support both established youth organisations and informal groups located in the 27 EU member states. Our main priorities are;

  • Strengthening the youth climate movement.  We want to use the Youth Climate Changemakers Fund to bring much needed financial, training and networking support to the youth climate movement.
  • To engage and reach new audiences. The climate movement has a diversity problem and we want to use the Youth Climate Changemakers Fund to redress that imbalance. We’re interested in supporting individuals not traditionally engaged in the climate movement. You don’t have to be an environmental or climate organisation! We want to hear from organisations who are new to the topic as well.
  • To create a legacy. We want to hear about how our investment in you will contribute to your future growth and impact on the climate movement in the future.
  • For you to join our community. Being part of Funding Fairer Futures is more than just receiving financial support and training– our strength comes from working together.
  • We want to support projects that will amplify the Funding Fairer Futures campaign. Alongside our coalition partners we want to work towards a common goal. We’re interested in hearing from you how your project will contribute to the efforts for a just transition. You can find out more about our campaigning below.

Campaigning on Just Transition

We are looking for partners from diverse fields and backgrounds, including those not traditionally focused on climate issues, to actively shape and engage in a joint campaign for a Just Transition. How do we understand Just Transition? A systemic shift towards an equitable, sustainable and inclusive society that tackles the root causes of social and environmental injustices within economic, political, and social structures.

We welcome your project ideas, whether they directly address climate issues or intersect with broader justice dimensions to ensure this campaign reflects your priorities. We will work together to narrow the campaign’s focus, and you will have the opportunity to have your input. We especially encourage proposals that help strengthen civil society and challenge systemic inequalities, highlighting how these topics intersect with the goals of a just transition and climate justice.
