On 2 March 2023, the Nature Restoration Team organised a European Parliament Youth Dialogue on the EU Nature Restoration Law. The Law, published back in June 2022, aims to restore 30% of degraded land and sea territories by 2030. While the Law represents a window of opportunity for the EU to restore its ecosystems and bring back nature into our lives, the Nature Restoration Team advocates for more inclusive and ambitious targets that value the role of youth in nature restoration practices. The European Parliament Youth Dialogue represented a moment of discussion between Generation Climate Europe, the rapporteur MEP César Luena (S&D), shadow-rapporteur Jutta Paulus (Greens/EFA) and the public – especially young people – to discuss the Nature Restoration Team’s demands to integrate the principle of intergenerational justice into the Law and adopt intermediate and long-term targets on nature restoration practices. This Booklet summarises the key takeaways of the European Parliament Youth Dialogue, and collects important action points on Generation Climate Europe’s position on the Nature Restoration Law.
