Youth for Zero Emissions
Urban Mobility
By 2050, about 70% of the world’s population is expected to live in urban areas, making it important to assure cities are emissions-free and livable. Therefore, on International Clean Air Day (7 September), Generation Climate Europe organised an online dialogue on the topic ‘Decarbonising Urban Transport: An Intergenerational Discussion’.
GCE will bring together actors with different perspectives, including policy, youth, non-governmental and business actors, to discuss current challenges and solutions for decarbonising urban mobility at the EU level. The discussion will focus on the importance of intergenerational justice and how this is included in EU urban mobility policies. The dialogue will also include delivery fleets and last mile deliveries to focus on a specific example of a sector with rising transport emissions that needs decarbonisation.
The event will start with a panel discussion. Afterwards, participants will be split into breakout rooms, each of them with one of the guests, to enable in-depth discussion and exchange. The whole event will be accompanied by live sketching to visualise and follow the discussion.
