About Us
Generation Climate Europe (GCE) is the largest coalition of youth-led networks on climate and environmental issues at the European level. GCE unites the largest youth-led networks bringing together 381 national organisations across 46 countries in Europe. We are guided by the voices of over 20 million young Europeans. GCE creates a platform for the youth to advocate for a just and green transition in Europe. GCE envisions a system that respects human rights and the planet, that includes the voice of youth and acknowledges our common, but differentiated responsibility in achieving a carbon-neutral and sustainable world.
About the Role
At GCE we are proud to offer our members – volunteer and Member Organisations – regular training on lobbying, communications, policy, law, and many other topics, delivered by experts in their field, in collaboration with various external organisations or even runned by other GCE teams focused on the topic of the training. Experts would advise on a short- or long-term basis on various matters surrounding our projects, from the technical and scientific dimensions of different environmental policy issues we work on to matters of communications, advocacy and partnerships. This is to ensure that we can increase our impact as well as that we can develop and improve our capacity as an organisation.
The Capacity Building Coordinator would report to and work closely with the board member in charge, ensuring that we can design an ambitious and diverse training offer for GCE as well as provide advice from external experts to our team members working on policy matters. The role fits into other teams, such as the membership team, as we want to signal to our MOs that the trainings we offer are available for their members as well, at the international, regional or local level.
But not everything is about training. We want to offer GCE’s community a safe space where individuals and teams can exchange their previous experiences and knowledge, skills, etc. (also known as Informal education or Experiential learning). We also want to create an environment of continuous learning and personal growth, because it is only this way that we can take from our work a bigger impact.
To conclude, with Capacity Building we want to ensure our community has the access to regular training opportunities and other sessions so they can improve or learn new skills that are directly related to GCE’s work and also other ones such as time management, leadership, managing teams, etc. And finally, to carry out other team building and informal activities in which, thanks to the connections that are made when you get to know a person much better, we improve our relationship with them and the way we work together.
Please note that this is a volunteer position.
