Dear Members of the European Parliament,
Ahead of tomorrow’s vote on the MRV Directive, Generation Climate Europe is calling on you to support the inclusion of carbon emissions from shipping in the EU’s 2030 emissions reduction.
It has been almost 5 months since the Covid-19 crisis hit Europe and the first social-distancing measures were introduced by European governments. During this time, the reality of the pandemic has resulted in drastic changes in the way citizens move in urban and rural areas. Hence, this article discusses the positive and negative implications that the Coronavirus crisis has already had in urban and rural areas around Europe while also trying to suggest the policy direction that the European Member States might be headed to as a result of the crisis.
