As part of the Interlinked campaign, they discussed the part citizen energy can play in bridging the gap between SDG7: Affordable and Clean Energy and SDG13: Climate Action.

Putting on a brave face: what is eco-anxiety and climate care?

Even in a year such as 2020 that played host to the coronavirus pandemic whilst also rounding off Earth’s warmest 10 years on record, industry’s big polluters and mega-corporations are keen to place the lion’s share of climate blame onto individuals. This takes a toll on the mental health of climate activists around the world. In this article, our authors argue that climate care can come in forms other than in-person protest and lobbying; one of these forms, crucial to maintaining mental wellbeing, is self-care.

With enormous disruptions and economic loss, COVID-19 has shown the fragility of our unsustainable production and consumption systems. Business-as-usual won’t get us on a sustainable track. Instead, we need a firm shift to sustainable production by strengthening companies’ social responsibility, building new partnerships, empowering consumers and working at every level to ensure a fair transition.
